April Membership Meeting
Strengthening Safety Through Bilingual Support
For this presentation on Strengthening Safety Through Bilingual Support, participants will hear from two bilingual construction professionals who bring hands‑on project experience and a shared passion for clear, inclusive communication on the jobsite. There will also be guest speakers representing local organizations that support our bilingual community, Spanish American Committee’s Latino Construction Program & the Rising Latino Professionals Group.
Angelica Barraza is a senior project engineer at Shook Construction, where she leads complex healthcare and education projects, work that directly impacts our communities in meaningful, lasting ways. She had attended school and worked in the construction industry in Mexico prior to moving to northeast Ohio.
Joanna Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican project engineer with Regency Construction Services, raised in the area and attending Cleveland State University. She started as an intern while completing her associate degree and now works on higher education and nonprofit projects while pursuing her bachelor’s degree.
As bilingual professionals fluent in Spanish and English, Angelica and Joanna use their field insight and language expertise to bridge communication gaps and support safer, more connected project teams.
